Swine Flu of the College
There are two suspected cases of swine flu (H1N1) in my glorious alma mater. Once I found out about this, I knew that I had only three valid courses of action.
- Panic at the fact that the dreaded virus is a mere fifty miles from me.
- Use this as an excuse to donate more money to the school’s Annual Fund.
- Write a song about it.
This is about choice number three. Sadly, I only have time to do one verse.
Swine Flu of the College
Sung to the tune of Stan Rogers’ Flowers of Bermuda
Words by Wing L. Mui
There be swine flu at the College
Students lie in tainted beds,
And there be papers, theses and work for every men
But there is no TAP for me!
For when we found infected students
Type A flu oh it was plain
Ol’ Tony, he, had canceled every single thing
Writing grimly for all to see.
Chorus:
It was a strain of influenza
Carried by pigs in Mexico!
We could taste the fear of the whole damn blogosphere
From the tweets two hours ago.
